2h Pilates workshop with Maiju Tapaninen
Creating Flow in Your Pilates Classes
What happens in the workshop?
This is a movement-based workshop where we’ll spend most of our time moving, exploring, and experiencing different ways to create flow within a Pilates class. Through guided practice, brief theory, and group discussion, we’ll look at how dynamic sequencing, smooth transitions, thoughtful layering, and intentional timing can transform a collection of exercises into an intelligent and connected movement experience.
Rather than focusing only on individual exercises, we’ll explore how movements relate to one another and how each part of the class can naturally prepare the body for what comes next. You’ll have the opportunity to experience different sequencing approaches in your own body and consider how they can be adapted to your personal teaching style and the needs of your clients.
What to expect?
A practical, hands-on workshop combining plenty of movement with useful teaching tools and guided exploration. We’ll work with dynamic sequencing, transitions, layering, rhythm, timing, and the overall structure of a class.
Together, we’ll explore how small choices can influence the energy, clarity, and continuity of a session. There will also be space to ask questions, exchange ideas, and reflect on how flow can support both creativity and purposeful teaching.
What can you learn or take into your teaching?
Discover how to create Pilates classes that feel connected, purposeful, dynamic, and enjoyable to move through. Learn to approach sequencing as a living system, where each movement has a clear relationship to what comes before and after it.
You’ll explore how to use transitions as an essential part of the practice rather than simply a way to move between exercises, and how to build movement progressively through thoughtful layering. We’ll also look at how timing, repetition, and rhythm can help create a class that feels both clear and effortless.
The workshop invites you to reframe Pilates fundamentals as living principles that shape the quality, intention, and continuity of movement—not simply as a collection of individual exercises. You’ll leave with practical ideas, fresh inspiration, and tools that you can begin applying to your classes immediately.
Who is it for?
Pilates teachers and teacher trainees who want to refine their teaching, improve the flow and structure of their classes, and deepen their understanding of the Pilates method. The workshop is especially suited to teachers who want to bring more creativity and variety into their classes while maintaining clear intention, intelligent progression, and a strong connection to Pilates principles.
